Grado GW100 Headphones

Every month, there seems to be another wireless headphone release, all of them claiming the best wireless connectivity and sound-to-price ratio. Now, we are no audio experts here at One Cut and any pair of Bluetooth earphones made in the last 3 years produces above-average sound quality with the only differentiating feature usually being design and nuances in the EQ. However, for the first time in a long time, we have been genuinely impressed by the Grado Labs GW100 wireless series headphones, here is why.

Grado Labs have been in the business of making quality sound products and accessories for nearly 70 years. For the unaccustomed, Grado Labs was founded by Joseph Grado in 1953 in Brooklyn. Over the past 61 years, Grado has become famous for its remarkable headphone and phono cartridge designs. Joseph Grado is responsible for more innovations in phono cartridge design than any other person in our lifetime, inventing the stereo moving coil phono cartridge and holding more than 48 patents. So, put simply, they know their way around great sound and the GW100 is a testament to this lineage in the business of making great sound.

So, what makes these so special you ask? The GW100 by Grado Labs not only features a stunning industrial design with very comfortable foam earpads but they are also the world’s first open-back Bluetooth headphones that notably dimmish escaping sound and feature Grado’s own finely tuned nearly perfectly matched signature de-stressed drivers. Grado said they spent years tuning the drivers specifically around the limitations of Bluetooth until they could produce a sound on par with wired headphones.

With a frequency response of 20Hz~20KHz and a nominal impedance of 32 ohms, we would have to agree. The quality of sound that the GW100’s produce is second to none, the notably warm sound is perfectly balanced and crisp, and they may be the best-sounding wireless headphones on the market today. Additionally, the 320mAH battery provides up to 15 hours of usage before needing to be recharged via micro-USB, and thanks to the included Bluetooth version 5.0 compatibility, it provides strong connections up to 10m from the paired audio source. Grado has provided support for AAC, aptX, and SBC audio codecs and even a 3.5mm headphone jack for those seeking a more traditional listening experience.

I think it is clear, we are big fans of what Grado Labs have done here, and at just $249, these blow competing headphones from the likes of Bose, Beats, and Apple out of the water on price to performance alone. So what are you waiting for? Get yours at
