Huawei Mateview 4K+ Monitor

We are not overselling it when we say that the Huawei Mateview is an early contender for Product of the Year in 2022. This stunning 4K+ display with cinema-level color science is stunning to look at and in our books is the only external monitor you should consider buying if you want a premium viewing experience for work or play, keep reading to find out why.

Creating everything from multimedia technology to smart home devices, Huawei is a world leader in telecommunications with industry-leading equipment that seamlessly connects people in nearly 170 countries. Unfortunately, they may have had some unwarranted bad press in the last few years but that doesn’t mean they don’t make some stellar products worth your consideration and the Mateview is a testament to the quality of products they create.

The first thing that strikes you about the Mateview is its full screen 3:2 aspect ratio which is rare in this space but if you are a content creator or sit in front of a screen for hours per day, you will welcome the nearly 20% increase in screen real estate when working on projects. It is also mounted on a low-profile stand that features built-in ports, a power button, and speakers that give this a minimalist design that we just can’t stop talking about. Also of note, is that the screen can also be lowered or angled very easily to find a comfortable level, and lastly is the Huawei Smart Bar, an OSD (On Screen Display) touch control that contains almost all the controls and settings for the monitor that you can change with the slide of your finger. A welcome addition.

Now, let’s talk about that screen. With a focus on productivity, the Mateview features a vibrant and bright 28.2-inch display capable of a resolution of 3840×2560 which translates to about 1.5 million more pixels than a standard 4K monitor and it is quite striking to look at with deep blacks and accurate bold colors, nearly 1.07 billion to be precise. It is also HDR certified and capable of achieving 98% of the DCI-P3 cinema standard color gamut meaning colors are incredibly accurate too. These combined with the 94% screen-to-body ratio make for an immersive experience that is unlike anything we have tested before. Lastly, if you use Huawei’s laptop or smartphones, you can wirelessly project in 2K resolution directly to the Mateview to increase the readability of your other connected devices.

To sum up, the Huawei Mateview is one of our favorite product releases this year and one that we can wholeheartedly recommend for those seeking a high-resolution display and who need to see more on your screen. At just $899, it seriously undercuts the latest releases from some of the biggest players in the computing space, even Apple. So, what are you waiting for?
