Lenovo Yoga Book – 2in1 Tablet

The Lenovo Yoga Book is a tablet/laptop hybrid built for 2017, when consumers want our devices to be slim, portable, and multi-functional. We want the convenience of our tablets with the power and functionality of a laptop in a size that is convenient. Lenovo have done wonders here.

The Yoga book is the one of the first tablets to feature a digital touch keyboard that also doubles as a Wacom digitizer with stylus, that means, you transcribe drawings and text digitally to screen. However, innovation doesn’t stop there, their beautiful watchband hinge returns and is very robust and classy, something we thought was very eye catching as well. The quality of the build continues to impress with it’s magnesium alloy shell, super slim profile and 10.1-inch, 1,920 x 1,200 resolution screen. All this folds neatly into a 0.38-inch profile (while closed) for ultimate portability and ease.

With both a Windows 10 and Android 6.0 version available, each is powered by a 1.44GHz Intel Atom x5-Z8550 with Intel graphics card, 4gb of ram, 64GB flash storage and a massive 8,500mAh battery. Also thrown is the usual smatterings of connectivity options like dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and an 8mp/2mp back and rear camera. Everything considered, this all makes for very smooth performance.

We were very impressed with the ability to use this device as both a tablet, fully fledged laptop, or Wacom drawing device. Unfortunately, our experience with the digital touch keyboard was a deal breaker for us. It looks spectacular but with no physical buttons and only haptic feedback to guide us, we found typing to be cumbersome. We really gave it that college try, using it as our daily driver for almost a month, but we simply never got used to it. At times, it was inaccurate and even lagged on occasion. Of course, it’s unrealistic to expect the same words-per-minute speed that you would attain on a traditional keyboard but this just wasn’t for us.

However, one small nit pick aside, the Yoga Book is a classy, innovative hybrid tablet that is where this industry is headed. Its hardware is top notch, it’s build is impeccable and the ability to use both a keyboard or drawing/editing tool makes this a must have for any aspiring graphic artist or business worker who looks for power in portability.
