My history with treadmills dates back to 2001 when a 250-pound overweight kid from Perth, Australia showed up at his local gym ready to shed some pounds by increasing his cardio. Little did I know at the time, this journey would not be easy in any sense of the word. There would be blood, sweat, and tears and that was only the first week! Fast forward 20 years and here I am weighing a healthy 180 pounds and trying to maintain my fitness journey. See, I was always a “gym guy”, thinking that at home workout machines could not cut the mustard but that all changed when I got my hands on the Pro-Form Pro 9000, this was not your average treadmill but a machine that not only felt great to run on, even besting commercial treadmills at the gym, but also would encourage me through their ingenious iFit subscription to push harder and go longer and instantly I was hooked.

Marketed as more than a treadmill, this moniker, could not have been more accurate. You see, like many at-home fitness machines, they pair it with an included 1-year iFIT membership, yes you read that right – FREE – for the first year anyway. This comprises streamed live and on-demand personal trainers leading you through studio classes and taking you all around the world, automatically controlling your treadmill’s speed, incline, and decline to give you a unique, hands-free workout. You also get the convenience of strength training and additional cardio workouts that don’t involve the machine-accessible anywhere 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
On the Pro-Form Pro 9000, you get to enjoy all these great iFIT features on the brilliant and vibrant 22-inch HD touchscreen, allowing you to interact with all that the subscription service has to offer. Below is a very welcome Coolaire fan with adjustable settings that allow you to get some reprieve from the summer heat. Build wise, you could not get any more of a premium experience with an impressive 20×60 inch running deck with Pro Form’s ReBound Pro technology which essentially adds shock absorption below your foot strike on the deck so that there is less fatigue in the lower half of your body and less stress on joints, cartilage, and ligaments in the long term.

The Pro-Form Pro 9000 is also one of the very few machines we have tested that provides variability in the incline, most treadmills can go up and down on a zero axis point but with the 9000, incline can travel from a -3% grade up to 12%, to realistically match the terrain of the workout. It makes the whole interactive training experience so much fun when what you are seeing on screen can be matched by the incline of your machine, it is very immersive, and we love it! The machine itself can also reach a maximum speed of 12Mph and the 3.6 CHP Mach Z™ motor stays cool through the toughest workouts; creating superior levels of inertia for a smooth, powerful feel; and a much quieter in-home experience. Last and certainly not least, the machine is also completely foldable with the inclusion of EasyLift Assist technology which essentially means the machine can be folded and retracted quickly and quietly without strain. You simply use the built-in, powerful shock to help you lift the deck with an easy push.

After using the Pro-Form Pro 9000 this past 60 days, it is fair to say we have a new favorite recommendation for those seeking the very best treadmill for at-home use. Running on it has been a mostly seamless experience, albeit it, some unwanted sound easily solved by a technician call and some Reddit surfing but besides this, it is very easy for us to recommend a product like this. It checks all the right boxes when it comes to durability, smoothness, and ease of use and with a massive 10-Year Frame, 2-Year Parts, & 1-Year Labor warranty they simply do not get better than this.
