In our testing, we were pleasantly surprised by just how well the router performed. Setting it up in my own detached multi-story 2000 sq ft home, provided excellent coverage and speeds. On the 2.4 GHz band, we were hitting on average between 450-550 Mbps and on the 5GHz band somewhere in the 850-950 Mbps over Wi-Fi which is very quick on my gigabit connection. We also found no dead zones or instances of network dropouts over the past month. It has been very reliable. We have also received a few firmware upgrades from D-Link which is excellent to see.
We were also pleasantly surprised by some of the extra features included with the router including the new Target Wake Time (TWT) feature which schedules transmissions for connected devices efficiently, meaning they know when to be ready for data, and when to take a break, increasing your devices battery life. Also, the vast profile-based parental controls and voice assistant capabilities – allowing users to enable or disable Wi-Fi access, check login credentials or reboot the system via voice-enabled smart speakers, such as Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
