Direct North™ Gore-Tex Down Jacket
Your first and most important line of defense against the elements is a good jacket and the Direct North Down Jacket checks all the right boxes.
Perfect for Ski, Snowsports, Backcountry, or just a great casual everyday coat, its exterior is made from Mountain Hardwear’s very own Gore-Tex Infinium 2L waterproof breathable fabric and is filled with lightweight and breathable 600-fill RDS-certified down insulation at the body and sleeves. In our testing, we remarked at just how light but warm this jacket is, it truly feels like you are wearing a heavy down coat but without the bulk and we love that.
We also appreciate the elastic and Velcro adjustment capability at the cuffs, along with cuff gaskets to keep snow and wind out plus the zippered chest and security pockets and underarm zip vents to add breathability when hitting the slopes. The icing on the cake though is the fact that this is a stylish full zip coat with a storm flap at an affordable price and there is a lot to be said about that.
Cotton Ridge™ Pant
Accompanying the jacket is the need for durable and comfortable pants and the Cotton Ridge pant would be our first recommendation.
Made from 100% organic cotton, this durable duck canvas cotton pant is not only rugged and durable but versatile too with pockets for everything you could ever need or want including a knife pocket for when you take to the trails.
We have also come to appreciate the need for reinforced double-layered knees which these also have and the reassuring belt loop waist with zippered fly completes the package. They feel good, we love the color and are built to last, what more could you ask for?
