So, when One Cut favorite – HUAWEI – released the Freebuds Lipstick, a product that combines luxury design with cutting-edge technology and just happens to look like a women’s lipstick, it naturally got our attention.

It is rare when a company manages to create a product that not only has a remarkable appearance but also delivers on their promise of an excellent audio experience and that is exactly what the Freebuds Lipstick do. The concept was created by a group of designers from global luxury, fashion, automotive and digital industries in association with HUAWEI’s Paris Aesthetics Research Centre. Truly exuding industry leading class, they are quite striking with their black, red, and gold colorway and feature a gorgeous stainless-steel body that doubles as a charging case plus it is corrosion and wear-resistant and polished to a brilliant mirror finish.  With the rounded arcs and fine line processing, it is not hard for people to take notice, it truly brings a unique never-before-seen aesthetic, and we love it.

However, this is more than just beauty on the outside, it has the brains to back it up too. Recently, HUAWEI’s audio products have been focused on providing consumers with the ultimate listening experience and these are no exception. With an open-fit design that is based on the ergonomic simulation system grounded by 10,000+ human ear models, the earbuds feature a 14.3mm dynamic driver which supports a frequency range of up to 40 kHz and enhances the mids and highs plus making the bass more powerful. Additionally, the Freebuds Lipstick feature what HUAWEI call AEM EQ adjustment which automatically detects the ear canal shape and wearing conditions, and then assigns the best suited EQ setting to fit the users’ ears. Using their downloadable AI Life app users can personalize their listening experience further with custom EQ settings.

During our playback test that included some thumping EDM tracks, a little jazz, and some smooth listening, we were impressed with the crystal-clear sound quality and how balanced the sound was coming from the Lipstick buds. The open-fit active noise cancellation also filtered ambient noise very well and even when we took calls over the Bluetooth 5.2 connection, people said we sounded crisp, and the clarity was excellent. It is also worth noting that the buds can also record high fidelity audio with the built-in microphone and a clever Surroundings mode in the app, can allow for ambient noise to be elevated during real world recordings for a more accurate experience.

To sum up, we are big fans of the HUAWEI Freebuds Lipstick. They deliver on a premium design, excellent sound quality with noise cancelation and best of all offers 22 hours of music playback before needing a quick charge in its case.
