HeroMods, design your very own action figure based on you. A lifelike figurine complete with custom super hero outfit and your face designed using the very latest 3D printing technology. It comes complete in its very own custom capsule packaging to show it off in all it’s glory.
The process could not be simpler, you select your custom outfit and then upload two pictures of yourself – one face shot and a side profile and the folks over at HeroMods go to work.
Their trained designers take your photos, and model the face into 3D on a computer. Then, they tweak the coloring to ensure the colors perfectly match your photos. After this, the hair is added – this is one of the most important parts of the process, and getting the hair right ensures the HeroMod looks more human. The last part of the digital process is adding the body, using the colors and costume chosen. HeroMods are printed from gypsum powder layer by layer via 3D printing and are brushed and cleaned. The HeroMod is then sealed within a cyanoacrylate glue (superglue) to strengthen and bring up the vibrancy of the colors.
We must admit, this could be one of the coolest gift ideas we have ever seen. The lifelike accuracy of the mod is very genuine and close to the original subject. The ripped body is as close to mine as possible (*cough* somewhat) and the hero capsule makes it easy to show your friends and family how awesome having your very own action hero can be! One side note worth mentioning, is that our mod arrived with a broken arm – a result of poor handling by Canadian mail services. However, we simply glued it back into place and no one was the wiser.
