eero Pro Wi-Fi System

When reliability is the name of the game, it is hard to look past one of the original proponents of the mesh Wi-Fi system, eero. Their stylish satellites, simple to use app and powerful hardware make this the perfect choice for homes and businesses alike.

Wi-Fi can be a tricky beast sometimes, most conventional routers do a decent job but throw any larger obstructions there way like – walls, doors, appliances, neighbors’ networks, metal, water (water heaters and fish tanks alike), dogs… or anything solid really, then its reach and reliability quickly degrade. The second generation eero Pro wants to be your go to solution with their complete Wi-Fi system that covers every nook and cranny of your home with fast, reliable connectivity.

Their eero system works by creating multiple access points around your home and is powered by a robust 700MHz quad-core CPU providing coverage for larger 3-5-bedroom homes up to 3,500 sq. ft. A single eero access point is connected to your existing modem and will broadcast on three wireless bands (Tri-band Wi-Fi radios) simultaneously – 2.4GHz, 5.2GHz, and 5.8GHz wirelessly to deliver even more reliable, consistent and fast internet speeds to more devices. Like most mesh systems, each additional eero receiver added is part of the same network and provides seamless connectivity from one point to another and does not require you to log into it like a repeater would. Each unit also features convenient Dual auto-sensing Gigabit ports for WAN and/or LAN connectivity for those that also want to hardwire their devices.

The real magic in this system lies in what eero calls their TrueMesh technology, that knows the signal strength between each Eero in your home and calculates the best path from your device to the internet. Developed using machine learning and data collected from hundreds of thousands of real homes, TrueMesh dynamically reroutes traffic to keep the network perfectly balanced. The eero Pro system also features some powerful next generation mesh technology including 2×2 MU-MIMO, beamforming, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac as well as WPA2 encryption, Family Profiles, DHCP, IPV6, NAT, VPN Passthrough, UPnP, Static IP, and Port Forwarding – everything a user needs to keep their home connected and safe. Something unique to the eero system is also Thread, a networking protocol designed for supporting low-powered devices like smart locks, doorbells, fans, and thermostats. Much like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, and Z-Wave, it’s another way for devices to communicate wirelessly throughout the home and is very forward thinking.

Another highlight of this system, once all set up, is that Eero routinely audits the network to ensure it is functioning optimally and unlike their competitors, eero’s automatic software updates provides users with bug fixes, performance improvements and even introduces exciting new features. It is also worth mentioning that their very intuitive app, enables users to have greater control and management of their network. You can see how many devices are connected, see upload and download speeds, enact parental controls by device, set up family profiles and you can even share your network with guests – very easily.
In addition to content filtering, the new Eero Plus service (fees apply) offers protection against malware, phishing, and viruses, as well as top-tier technical support. Peace of mind for a problem free network.

The eero system continues to be one of the best solutions for everyday Wi-Fi woes, it may not provide the fastest speeds like the Orbi or Multy X, but it offers something even more impressive, reliability. In our 3 months using the system, it has not faltered us even once. We have had no dropped network, signal issues or connectivity problems at all and in a world where being connected is everything, there is something special in that.
