There are not many clothing brands that we would describe as “battle ready” but the team at Triple Aught Design have managed to create men’s and women’s clothing that not only looks great but is built to last even the toughest of adventures.

The premise behind T.A.D is simply inspired, they make gear and apparel for capable people or in their own words, products that are: “mission capable”, meaning they are ready to perform any operation within their scope. Accordingly, their name comes from the principle of 000 (triple aught) or shorthand for a thousandth of an inch, which speaks to their precision when it comes to design. Their high attention to detail, and strict tolerances ensure all their products meet your most rigorous needs. We were recently given the opportunity to review some of their Summer offerings, their Traverse Tech T and Recon ST short.

Their active fit Traverse Tech T-shirt is made from a super soft New Zealand Merino wool with a Nylon blend. This lightweight crew neck is quite versatile and truly is a four-season shirt thanks to the wool’s properties to wick away moisture as well as serve as a base layer underneath a Winter jacket. We are big fans of how well this shirt fit too, we love the attention to detail with its straight hem, self-banded collar and the fact that it weighs less than 150g. It fit in all the right places and really suffers from the Goldilocks effect – it’s just right! This is a shirt you need in your wardrobe.

Their Recon ST short on the other hand is a must have Summer staple especially when you are around water. Weighing less than 9oz, this comfortable short is made from a 50% Nylon, 50% Cotton blend and features a superb water repellent which means spilt beers or splashes from pools or lakes will simply go unnoticed. You also get excellent build quality again here with gusseted crotch, back yoke and bar tack reinforcements all held together with both double and triple needle stitching.

However, the real winner here is the sheer number of pockets this pair of shorts offers, a monstrous 9 pockets flank this piece of clothing with everything from hand pockets, flapped welt pockets, zippered cargo pockets and even a hidden pocket. This is a pair of shorts MacGyver himself would have worn and we love them!
