This jack of all trades device is a Google Assistant powered smart speaker that can bring studio-quality sound throughout your entire home all the while wirelessly charging your device fast in its brilliant cradle design. It gets better, while it may be compact in design, the quality of sound this unit can output is very impressive and outshines all other smart speakers from the likes of Amazon and even Google’s offerings.
The unique egg shape design houses some powerful audio hardware too – a 35mm full-range driver and 2x 70mm woofers. This combined with their own push-push dual driver system, the unit can pump out exceptional crisp sound and loudness that doesn’t distort or vibrate even at top volume. Flanking the top half is a 10-watt wireless charger in its pie cut design, as well as, two far-field microphone holes that sit either side of the touch-sensitive buttons – Bluetooth, volume down, play/pause, volume up, and mic mute. You also get the usual array of 2020 connectivity options such as Bluetooth 5.0 and Wifi 802.11b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz/5GHz) which never gave us any issues during the setup process.
Last and certainly not least is the sound, how good is it? Belkin makes some grand claims about its partnership with acoustic engineering experts – Devialet – with their patented Speaker Active Matching (SAM) technology that works to produce high fidelity sound. In our testing, there is no doubt that the sound coming out of the Soundform Elite isn’t impressive, with mids and highs sounding very pure and smooth. Admittedly there is probably too much bass and the speaker could benefit from a bit of fine-tuning to better match different genres of music but loudness is on point, no matter what volume you blast your favorite Taylor Swift song at.
